Rapid City Club for Boys Gets Surprise

December 28, 2011

The Rapid City Club for Boys received an unexpected gift from J. Scull Construction at a Rush hockey game in December.

A boy from the club was given the opportunity to shoot three pucks at the goal for a chance to win $500 from J. Scull.
The boy made two of the three shots, winning $200 for the Club for Boys.
“Though the boy was ecstatic at winning $200 for his organization, we had a surprise up our sleeve,” said J. Scull Construction owner Jim Scull. “We decided the organization deserved the full amount of money.”
To the audience’s delight, Scull appeared on the ice and presented the boy with a check for the entire $500 made out to the Club for Boys.
That wasn’t the only surprise in store.
“I decided that since the Club for Boys makes such a positive impact in the community for so many youth, that the organization deserved another $1,000 donation from our Black Hills construction company,” said Scull.
The Club for Boys received a total gift of $1,500 at the Rush game, which will go toward maintaining its educational programs and activities.
The organization’s mission is to provide positive experiences that develop self-esteem and character in a caring, safe, and fun environment for all boys.
